报告人简介:

Dr Jianyong Jin is senior lecturer in the School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Auckland. His academic research interests include: fundamental fluorine chemistry, novel condensation polymerization, synthesis of novel fluorinated polymers, synthesis of antimicrobial polymers, and polymer surface modification.

Dr Jin received his BEng (Polymer Engineering) from Dalian University of Technology in 1996, MSc (Polymer Science) from Fudan University in 1999 and PhD degree (Polymer Chemistry) from Clemson University in USA in 2005. He then took an industrial postdoctoral position at Promerus Corporation, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Bakelite, where he worked on the addition polymerization of norbornene based monomers for photodefinable microelectronic packaging materials. He joined Tetramer Technologies LLC in spring 2006, where he was leader of the synthesis team on fluorinated monomers and polymers synthesis, and received funding of small business innovation research (SBIR) from NSF and DOE. He received an Excellence in Polymer Graduate Research Award by American Chemical Society Polymer Chemistry Division in 2003, and an Outstanding Graduate Researcher Award from Clemson University in 2005. Despite working in Industry for the past 6 years and thus being restricted in his ability to publish in the open literature, he has 18 publications in high-impact journals and granted 1 US patent, cited over 491 times and h-index of 10 as of December 2012.

报告摘要:

Synthetic membranes have become omnipresent in our daily lives, such as water purification, gas separation, food processing and packaging. On the other hand, today’s commercial membrane products are still meticulously seeking breakthrough technology and materials to further boost their desirable performance. Today I will talk about my past work experience in the field of gas separation membranes in close collaboration with MTR Inc, a global leader in gas separation membrane technology. These membrane technologies are relevant to oxygen enrichment, carbon dioxide separation for coal bed methane, H2/CO2 separation from syngas with added competitive advantages. In second part of my talk, I will briefly introduce a unique semi-fluorinated polymer technology for automobile hydrogen fuel cell application.
